The number of destinations closed to international tourism has continued to decline. According to the UNWTO Travel Restrictions Report, 70% of the world's countries have relaxed travel restrictions imposed for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Regional differences
Europe continues to be the continent most likely to ease travel restrictions, followed by the Americas, Africa and the Middle East. Asia and the Pacific continue to be the most restrictive areas, still regularly enforcing border closures for international tourism.
Even countries that are showing a clear openness, however, continue to advise against non-essential international travel to higher risk areas of the world. Some countries, on the other hand, have banned non-essential travel entirely: Belgium, for example, has banned all non-essential travel to and from Belgium from January 27 to March 1 (with appropriate exemptions).
The United States, on the other hand, has restricted entry for all foreign nationals who have passed through China, Iran, most European countries, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Brazil in the past 14 days. Beginning Jan. 26, all travelers must present a negative viral test result for COVID-19, issued at least 72 hours before departure, or have certified proof of having contracted and been cured of COVID-19 before boarding the plane.
Despite strong lmitations in some countries, borders are gradually being reopened not only for travel of necessity but also for tourism in many cases.

Arrival Controls
Some countries have also stepped up checks or demands on arriving travelers. France, for example, has required travelers to provide a statement certifying that they are not suffering from symptoms of COVID-19 and have not been in contact with confirmed cases in the previous two weeks.
